Riding the Skeumorphic Edge Since 1995

Making My Personal Story Pop

In 2017, I made Schatz's Dreck-a-Mix, an interactive eBook containing 11 short video vignettes about the family history of my grandmother Rita Rosen (nee Schatz) 1927-2016. Produced together with my daughter Naomi as an entry into the "My Family Story" competition at The Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv, this project was selected for display in the annual MFS exhibition and won 1st Prize amongst the English language entries.

Silverman Summer Sabbatical

In 2013, I made the Silverman Summer Sabbatical, a native iOS application for iPad that contained 11 sections detailing a 5-week trip I made with my wife and 3 kids across the United States. It was my first completely touch-based UI design and included slideshows, videos, 360º panoramas and other interactive affordances, and I used almost every tool in the Adobe Creative Cloud to make it, including the Digital Publishing Suite, which is no longer offered.

Commercial UI Design Reel

From 2003 - 2008 I was a professional commercial designer, developer and interactive media producer at a high-end digital boutique in New York City, where I developed creative strategic solutions for clients, and established work plans, deliverables, budgets, and staffing needs for numerous large projects. During that time, our division grew to 8+ FTE, expanded technologies and services, and I eventually came to direct a team of designers, engineers, and developers to produce DVD, CD-ROM, kiosk, web, streaming, and live event-based applications. Our clients included Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Nickelodeon/Viacom, CBS News, Lifetime, Spike TV, Rainbow Media (Cablevision MagRack, Sportskool), Seiko, Christie's Auction House, Whole Foods, AIGA, Municipal Credit Union, Starwood Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, Loreal, Liz Claiborne, Sesame Workshop, and BMW.
